Access to IDEXX SmartService™ Solutions: remote troubleshooting for your IDEXX VetLab analyzers that saves time and helps keep your laboratory running smoothly

Benefits

Real-time results at the push of a button

The ProCyte Dx analyzer takes work out of your hands and lets you get back to your patients and clients more quickly.
  • Load-and-go operation: Even maintenance is push-button for increased staff productivity.
  • Small sample size: The analyzer requires only 30 µL of anticoagulated blood. And veterinary-specific IDEXX VetCollect EDTA tubes require only 0.5–1.5 mL of blood to get the most accurate results for every patient.
  • More species: Results are validated for 10 species (canine, feline, equine, bovine, ferret, gerbil, rabbit, pig, mini pig and Guinea pig) across 26 different parameters.* Simple, intuitive flagging highlights questionable results, like clumped platelets or abnormal white blood cell patterns, to indicate the need for further investigation. Other species capabilities are available.
  • Closed-tube sampling: There’s no sample preparation and less risk of contamination.
  • 30-second return: Sample tube is returned in 30 seconds and available for further testing.

Technology

Smarter technology for better hematology

The ProCyte Dx analyzer employs three cutting-edge technologies to provide the most comprehensive complete blood count (CBC) available in-house.

Laser flow cytometry delivers an advanced five-part white blood cell differential. The ProCyte Dx® Hematology Analyzer uses laser flow cytometry to perform a full analysis of multiple characteristics on each white blood cell, for the most accurate interpretation of all five white blood cell types.

Optical fluorescence provides a highly sensitive and accurate reticulocyte count with the use of specific fluorescent stains. The process involves staining sample cells, directing laser light of 633 nm at each cell and collecting multiple angles of light scatter

Wavelengths of 660 nm and greater—denoted here in blue—are captured for very precise measurements of the cell’s nucleic content. Only the ProCyte Dx analyzer offers this superior capability for highly sensitive and accurate analysis.

Laminar Flow Impedance™ performs the fastest and most precise count of red blood cells for quick and accurate analysis. With advanced Laminar Flow Impedance technology, cells are lined up one by one to ensure each cell is characterized individually.

With advanced Laminar Flow Impedance technology, cells are lined up one by one to ensure each cell is characterized individually.

Third-party study verifies exceptional correlation1

Recent studies comparing the ProCyte Dx analyzer to the Advia 120, the Cell-Dyn 3700 and the Sysmex XT-V showed unparalleled red blood cell count, hematocrit, reticulocyte count, platelet count and white blood cell count correlation.2 Results were shared at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) forums of 2010 and 2011.

The accuracy of the ProCyte Dx analyzer is demonstrated in the correlation data:

Test Menu

The ProCyte Dx Hematology Analyzer offers a full menu of hematology parameters and prints all your IDEXX VetLab in-house analyzer results in one comprehensive report. The report provides a complete picture of your patient's health status and facilitates face-to-face communication with clients.

Results are validated for 10 species (canine, feline, equine, bovine, ferret, gerbil, rabbit, pig, mini pig and Guinea pig) across 26 different parameters.* Simple, intuitive flagging highlights questionable results, like clumped platelets or abnormal white blood cell patterns, to indicate the need for further investigation. Other species capabilities are available.

Parameter Description
HCT (hematocrit) With every report
RBC (red blood cell count)
  • A vital supplement to the HCT
  • Accurate measurements allow accurate calculations of MCH and MCHC.
HGB (hemoglobin) With every report
RETIC , %RETIC (reticulocyte count, percentage of reticulocytes) Reticulocytes are essential and the gold standard for characterizing if an anemia is regenerative or nonregenerative.
MCV (mean cell volume) Serial measurement allows better monitoring of the progression/regression of a disease state.
RDW (red blood cell distribution width)
  • Objective measurement of variation in size of red blood cells (anisocytosis)
  • Allows the veterinarian to better follow the progression and regression of a disease
MCHC (mean cell hemoglobin concentration) With every report
MCH (mean cell hemoglobin) With every report
PLT (platelet count) The ProCyte Dx analyzer offers a much more accurate platelet count than impedance-only counters
MPV, PDW, PCT (mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, platelet hematocrit) Aid in the characterization of a platelet abnormality (such as presence or absence of a bone marrow response to a peripheral demand for platelets)
WBC (white blood cell count) With every report
Monocytes and Lymphocytes (% and #)
  • Help identify inflammatory diseases where macrophages are a significant component of the inflammatory process
  • Differentiation of monocytes and lymphocytes helps accurately identify the presence of an underlying glucocorticoid influences (e.g., stress, steroid administration, hyperadrenalcorticism)
Neutrophils (% and #) Important in identifying certain types of inflammatory disease and their severity, as well as following the progression or regression of inflammation
Eosinophils (% and #)
  • Important in identifying systemic hypersensitivity, which can be caused by heartworm disease, flea bite dermatitis, feline asthma, allergic gastroenteritis and more
  • The ProCyte Dx analyzer identifies eosinophils for both canines and felines
Basophils (% and #) May be helpful in identifying systemic hypersensitivity, as well as acute allergic reactions
Band neutrophils Inflammation

Band neutorphils are noted when they are suspected to be present in a sample. Their presence is the single best indicator of inflammation.
Nucleated red blood cells (nRBCs) Bone marrow damage and excess RBC production

Nucleated red blood cells are noted when suspected to be present in a sample. These cells indicate bone marrow damage or extreme increases in red blood cell production, both of which prompt quick action.

How To / Resources

Run a test in just three simple steps.
  1. Enter the client and patient information on the IDEXX VetLab Station.
  2. Place the sample in the ProCyte Dx analyzer.
  3. Tap the Run button and walk away.

That’s it!

Results are ready in just two minutes for next steps and sharing with clients in the IDEXX VetLab Station diagnostic report during the patient visit.

Hematology and chemistry results in just eight minutes.

The ProCyte Dx analyzer’s two-minute run time complements the speed of the Catalyst Dx™ Chemistry Analyzer. Now, in just eight minutes, you can run in-depth chemistry and hematology diagnostic panels.

  • A Chem 22 and CBC with a five-part differential and absolute reticulocyte count in eight minutes
  • Four preanesthetic panels, such as a Chem 10 and CBC, in just 18 minutes
